What Is an Armour Set?
An armour set is a group of matched pieces sold together. Same design, same finish, same construction across every piece in the kit. You do not have to think about whether things go together. They do.
Scope varies. A partial set usually covers the torso, shoulders, and a piece or two more, like bracers or a gorget. A full suit adds arms, legs, and neck for complete coverage. Both make sense depending on your event, your build, and how much weight you want to carry on the day.
Armour Set Materials - Steel, Leather, or Polyurea?
Three materials, each with a different feel on the body and a different relationship with maintenance.
Steel has a presence the other materials do not. It is heavy, it catches light properly, and wearing it feels different from wearing anything else. It also needs the most looking after: oil it regularly, keep it dry, and factor the weight into your plans for a long day. For reenactment and historically grounded LARP, it is worth every bit of that effort.
Leather is lighter and more forgiving. It has a short break-in period where the material stiffens slightly, but after the first few events it conforms to your body and the fit settles in well. Give it occasional conditioning and it will look better with every event, not worse.
Polyurea is the easiest of the three to live with. It is light, it replicates the look of steel or leather well enough that most people do not look twice, and maintenance is a damp cloth after events. Epic Armoury's polyurea armour is sold under the Light Kit sub-brand. Same aesthetic families as the rest of the range, none of the upkeep.
Partial Set or Full Suit?
For most LARP use, a partial set is the practical choice. It covers what matters, keeps the weight down, and is much easier to wear over a full day of play.
A full suit is for when the look is the whole point. Cosplay, theatre, photography, or any event where you want complete coverage and the full visual impact of a matched suit of armour. They take more effort, but the result speaks for itself.
How Armour Sets Fit
All sets use adjustable strap-and-buckle fastenings, so fit can be dialled in across different builds and base layers.
A gambeson or padded underlayer underneath makes a noticeable difference, especially for steel. It cushions the contact points, stops straps from grinding on bare skin, and for longer events it is the difference between comfortable and not. If you plan to wear one, account for that extra layer when choosing your size.
How to Look After Your Armour Set
Steel: Wipe it dry after every event. Moisture is what causes rust, and prevention takes two minutes. A light oil every now and then keeps the surface protected. Store it somewhere dry.
Leather: Leather wax on the hard plates, leather grease on the straps, every few months. Keep it away from heat and damp. Clean off the mud before it goes into storage.
Polyurea: Wipe it down with a damp cloth. Store away from direct sun and heat. That is all it needs.

Are armour sets safe for LARP?
Leather and polyurea sets are safe for combat at most LARP events. Steel is permitted at many events but check your system's rules before buying, as some restrict metal armour in active combat.
Do I need a full suit or will a partial set do?
For LARP, a partial set usually does the job. Full suits are most worthwhile when the visual impact of complete coverage is the point: cosplay, theatre, and similar.
